Buffy looked around and: "Yeah, okay, can you follow that car right ahead of us?"

Was that a weird request? Maybe? She didn't know, but she needed to keep on this trail that she could actually follow.

It is, but I have been reading Night World thanks to this...

"Whoa? Seriously? Like in the movies? Sure, I guess, get in before we lose them."

"Thank you!" Buffy got into the car, and kept a close eye on the one in front.

"So.... Is that your boyfriend we're following?" She asked, pulling into three flow of traffic as soon as the door was closed.

Ah. Crap. Needing to give a reason.

"It's... complicated."

[circle_daybreak]

"I like complicated!" She said cheerfully.

"Great! Just for right now, I need to not lose sight of that car and where it goes."

"Don't worry, I am on it," she said as she followed the car into traffic. "Can I ask something, though?"

Buffy looked and "uh... yeah?"

"On a scale of one too I should be picking out a coffin, how scared should I be right now? Pretty sure you wouldn't think less of me if I said the guy that got into the car we are following looks like her could be part of a gang or something..."

"You don't need to worry," was the honest response. "I'll deal with it."

"Even if he had a gun or something?"

"I ... know how to deal with it."

Was it a good idea? Letting some random person think she was fully trained?

"Whoa? Are you an undercover cop?!" She sounded impressed.

"... I'm something," she says in reply. "Look I think they're headed to the Roosevelt Field mall?"

"I know a shortcut from here... Or should we keep following?"

"Go for the shortcut," Buffy says, "it'll work better."

"Sure thing, boss." She's signaled then changed lanes to move into the toll lane. "So do I get any hints to this mystery?" She asked once they were in the proper lane.

"It'... probably better if you don't," is the slow reply.

"Why? Is my head going to explode or something?"

She'd seen that happen. It was not pretty.

"No, just... less you know, you know?"

"Not really." She sighed. "Okay, different topic... um..." she considered.

"How is this mall for the shopping?"

What? She could totally multi-task!

"Not bad, actually. And there is another mall just across the parking lot, and that one has a great ice cream place. Oh, and there is a good bookstore in the Roosevelt Field one." She glanced at her after shifting lanes. "You like vampires?"
