"On a scale of one too I should be picking out a coffin, how scared should I be right now? Pretty sure you wouldn't think less of me if I said the guy that got into the car we are following looks like her could be part of a gang or something..."

"You don't need to worry," was the honest response. "I'll deal with it."

"Even if he had a gun or something?"

"I ... know how to deal with it."

Was it a good idea? Letting some random person think she was fully trained?

"Whoa? Are you an undercover cop?!" She sounded impressed.

"... I'm something," she says in reply. "Look I think they're headed to the Roosevelt Field mall?"

"I know a shortcut from here... Or should we keep following?"

"Go for the shortcut," Buffy says, "it'll work better."

"Sure thing, boss." She's signaled then changed lanes to move into the toll lane. "So do I get any hints to this mystery?" She asked once they were in the proper lane.

"It'... probably better if you don't," is the slow reply.

"Why? Is my head going to explode or something?"

She'd seen that happen. It was not pretty.

"No, just... less you know, you know?"

"Not really." She sighed. "Okay, different topic... um..." she considered.

"How is this mall for the shopping?"

What? She could totally multi-task!

"Not bad, actually. And there is another mall just across the parking lot, and that one has a great ice cream place. Oh, and there is a good bookstore in the Roosevelt Field one." She glanced at her after shifting lanes. "You like vampires?"

Okay, that threw her.

"Sorry, what?"

"Vampires? you know those novels about vampires and humans falling in love and stuff. The bookstore is doing a whole special on paranormal YA romance right now." She gave her a bright smile before she went back to focusing on the road.

"Oh, oh right, nah, never really been into that type of thing," Buffy says. "I always feel like it would work better as a horror?"

"You don't think it would feel too real as horror? Wouldn't it give you nightmares?"

[heyidiedtwice]

"Isn't that what horror's for?"

[circle_daybreak]

She shrugged. "I don't know. I don't watch that much horror," she admitted. "Hym what do you think you'd do, you know.... if."

"If...?"

Felt like she should double check what they were going to say there,

"Well like, if you ask someone who likes the romance once I can guess what they'd do if they ver met a vampire. But if you're a horror fan.. wondering what you'd do if someday you discovered vampires were real or something..."

She laughed. "That's fair. But... don't the blond girls that run get killed first horror movies..?" She gave an awkward little laugh shudder combo.
